The Holiday Activities and food programme scheme is available at our holiday camps to every individual from the ages of 5 up to the age of 13 years old. Taking place across Abingdon, Botley, Didcot, Grove and Wallingford each school holiday.
We have been successfully selected by Oxfordshire County Council to receive funding from the Department of Education to offer fully funded spaces as part of the Nationwide Holiday Activities and Food programme Scheme (HAF Scheme). This programme helps ensure that children from all backgrounds have access to healthy food and the opportunity to access enriching activities throughout the school holidays.
School holidays can be a particularly tough time for some families because of increased food and childcare costs whilst taking a reduced income. For some children that can lead to a holiday experience gap, with children from less advantaged families:
-Limited access to organised out of school activities
-More likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health
-More likely to experience social isolation.
Free childcare holiday clubs are a response to this issue and evidence suggests that they can have a positive impact on the development of children and young people. Elite Youth Sports have been a supportive partner of the HAF Scheme since Easter 2020 offering funded places at each location to those that are eligible.
What to Expect
Alongside our team of dedicated sports coaches, we have a whole variety of activities planned to keep your children engaged and active.
As part of the holiday activites and food programme scheme, children booked using the funding will receive a free packed lunch every day of attendance. They will need to bring along a refillable drinks bottle, wear suitable clothes for indoor and outdoor activity and arrive with lots of energy!
Children must receive income assessed free school meals to be eligible for HAF funding. Children who receive free school meals for being in foundation do not qualify for the funding.
The Holiday Activies and Food programme scheme only runs in Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.
